The property remained in the Heyward family until 1911.
Bought by Felix DuPont of Wilmington, Delaware and he fashioned the house to a 20th century appearance and called the properties Combahee Plantation. After owning it for 27 years Mr. DuPont sold it in 1946 to the Lane family of Savannah.
