Timeline: In 1750 James Clitherall owned the plantation. In 1869 conveyed to James S. Glover. Later Belleville was absorbed by Preston and the Peter Smith Plantation. It is now owned by West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company.

Buildings: Original house burned 1781. Belleville was without a house until approximately 1800. A cottage was built and the Clitheralls lived there until 1869.
